Reminder: A copy of the above documentation needs to be brought in the day of application.
Courses that require written directions to complete projects (i.e., wood shop, home economics, drafting).
 
All applicants will be notified by mail if you have been accepted for apprenticeship/ or failed to meet the minimum qualifications. Those who meet the minimum qualifications will be scheduled for an orientation. If you fail to appear for the orientation you will be dropped from the “Pool of Eligibles”. 
 
VETERANS who have GI Benefits may use them in this program.

Job description
You will assist the journeyman or apprentice with such duties as: striking, sawing, cleaning, washing, grouting or any other duties assigned by the Foreman to increase the productivity of the journeyman or apprentice. Under no circumstance shall their duties consist of laying or setting any material. 
 
Wage Scale
$11.36 plus Health & Welfare & Pension benefits – 1st 500 hours
$17.54 plus Health & Welfare & Pension benefits – 500 to 2000 hours
$21.11 plus Health & Welfare & Pension benefits – 2000 hours
 
Related Training
144 hours of related training will be required. Our classes are set up for every other Saturday from September to May. (No cost to the applicant)
 
Drug & Alcohol Testing
Your employer will require that you take a pre-employment drug test. All testing information under this program is strictly confidential.

Items you’ll need for work
*   A pair of work boots.
Tennis shoes are not acceptable.
*   A hard hat.
Hard hat’s can be purchased at Sanderson Safety Supply or Home Depot.

APPLICANTS WILL BE SCORED AND RANKED USING THE GUIDELINES BELOW:   

1.         Work Experience*      5 Maximum points     
            General:                                  1000 hours=.25 point
            Construction Related              1000 hours=.5 points             
            Mason-Trades related             1000 hours=1 points 

2.         Graduate of a Council and committee jointly approved*     4 maximum points 

      pre-apprenticeship program (including B-Fit, Youth Build, Job Corps)        

                                                                                                   
3.         Military Experience       5 maximum points     
            General:                                  1 year = 1 point
 
4.         Education related to occupation*       3 maximum points    
            (including shop, Home Economics, Design, Construction, Mechanical)
                1 semester credit with grade C or better = 2 points 
 
5.         High School Education       3 maximum points    
            High School Diploma= 2 points
                        Cumulative GPA 2.00 and above = 1 additional point                    
            GED= 2 points
                        Total Score greater or equal to 255 = 1 additional points
                        (greater than or equal to 2550 for GED’S completed after 12/21/01)
 
6.         Math classes with passing grades        5 maximum points   
            Basic Math:                   1 semester credit = 1 point
            Advanced Math: 1 semester credit = 2 points                  
            (including Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Calculus) 
 
7.         Valid Driver’s License           5 maximum points      
                                                                                                           
 
8.         Interview          70 maximum points  
                                                                                                           
*Points awarded only for experience gained no more than 5 years prior to application date.
